Triathlon club wants women to try sport

5/12/2008 1:00:00 AM
THE Albury-Wodonga Triathlon Club is calling on any interested women to try the sport next weekend.

A women-only triathlon is planned for Sunday, December 14, with the club inviting women to try a sport that might be new to them.

“Triathlons are particularly good as most women can either run, ride or swim and can participate in a team until they’re confident to do it by themselves,” said publicity officer Nadia Mellor.

“This is for women only, to encourage women to exercise without the competitive nature of a club race.

“As a counsellor who is always advocating the benefits of exercise to combat stress, being an organiser of this first-time event is great as it is finally putting forward an organised event achievable for most levels of fitness.”

It will be held at Allans Flat, with registration from 9am and feature a 300m swim, 12km ride and 3km run.

For more information, call Mellor on 0412 174 699.
