TOKYO Olympic gold medallist Andrew Hoy has been honoured with new entry signs to his hometown of Culcairn and fittingly they have been made by the Famous Australian Sign Company.

Business owner Allan Wood said "I hadn't thought of it that way", but noted the equestrian champion would be the most famous Australian to have a sign made by his Albury firm which dates to 1985.
"It's lovely to be involved in it for sure and we do a lot of work for Greater Hume Shire and I'm very proud to work with them," he said.

The signs at the north and south Olympic Highway entries to Culcairn were removed for an upgrade following Hoy's success at this year's Games in August.
The shire provided the artwork for the signs and Greater Hume mayor Heather Wilton is thrilled with the result.
"It's terrific to see it there, it replaced one that was looking a bit tired and not up to date," she said.
"It's very striking and very nice to see it out there."
Cr Wilton said she was still pursuing a plan to have a statue of Hoy at Culcairn.
She suggested it could be discussed by the town's community development committee and brought to a public meeting in the new year.
Cr Wilton declined to say if a statue could be completed by the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
"It's something we need to work quietly away on and work out what it's going to cost," she said.
